GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Attendance and Medical Appointments

Attendance

Good attendance at school is proven to lead to good academic results.  At Warren Mead Schools, we aim for every child to achieve 100% attendance.

Attendance at all school sessions is required by law.  The only exceptions to this are in cases of illness or where the Executive Headteacher has granted special leave of absence.  Holidays during term-time will not be authorised.  If you wish to request a leave of absence due to exceptional circumstances, please request a form from the school office.  Please see our Attendance Policy for more information

If your child is going to be absent from school, please email attendance@warrenmead.co.uk or call the school office to report the absence before 8.45am. Our school office team will call you if your child is absent and we do not know the reason.  If we are unable to reach the primary contact, we will endeavour to establish a reason for the absence from one of the other contacts listed for the child.

To help with the smooth running of the system, please ensure you follow the school’s procedure:

  • Inform the school if your child is going to be absent from school by phone call or, email;

  • Provide a doctor’s certificate if the illness is prolonged and/or the school requests a copy;

  • Advise the school if your child is going to be late for any reason.

Punctuality

Children are required to attend school on time.  Children should arrive between 8.35am and 8.55am for a prompt registration.  Arriving after 8.55am will require the child to be taken to the main school office where an accompanying adult will be required to sign them in and this will result in a late mark. Children who arrive after 9.15am will be recorded as ‘late after the register closes’. This equates to an absence and will affect their attendance figures.

Children must be collected promptly at 3.00pm for Nursery, 3.10pm for Reception, Years 1 and 2 and 3.15pm for Years 3 to 6. Your child will only be able to be collected by individuals identified on their permissions form and adults (and who must be over the age of 18).

EYFS (Nursery and Reception, Years 1, 2 and 3 - parents/carers must complete a ‘collection arrangements form' so that teachers will know who to expect each day.

Years 4, 5 and 6 - parents/carers must complete a ‘permission form’ indicating if your child has permission to leave the school premises unaccompanied at the end of the day or naming a person/s that will be collecting each day.  If this changes for a singular day or period, please call the office to advise or email the class teacher.

These forms can be emailed to you if any changes occur - please ask the school office.

The School Office and Class Teacher must be informed by a parent or main carer of any change of arrangements.

Medical Appointments

Parents/carers are asked to make every effort not to arrange appointments during the school day, except in emergencies.  Please do not keep children out of school for the whole day unless absolutely necessary.  If your child has to have a medical or dental appointment during school time, please inform the school office and Class Teacher in advance and provide a letter or appointment card.

Children leaving or arriving at school during the school day must be signed in or out at the main School Office by their parent/carer or authorised adult.
