Autumn Week 6

Wednesday 11th October 2017

English Home Learning – Due Monday 16th October

Over the last week, we have been learning about how to use different skills and techniques to create descriptive paragraphs about setting, particularly looking at Pandora. We used techniques from our good old friend SAMPA! Just as a reminder, SAMPA stands for:

  • Similes
  • Adjectives/Adverbs
  • Metaphors
  • Personification
  • Alliteration

For this week’s challenge, we would like you to write at least one descriptive paragraph about your very own planet using SAMPA’s techniques! You could even challenge yourself further and use ISPACE sentence starters too! We cannot wait to read your descriptions!

English Home-Learning

Set:18th October 2017                                                         Due:30th October 2017

For your half-term English Home-Learning you can choose between any of the three activities. We want to put your home-learning up for display so make sure you complete it on paper. Your choices are to:

  1. Research a famous Victorian and present your findings in a beautiful way;
  2. Write a short newspaper article announcing Queen Victoria’s coronation;
  3. Create a job advert for someone to work as a maid in a rich household.

Spend 30 minutes on your home-learning. It must be completed on a sheet of paper so we can put it on display. Make sure your presentation is neat.

Year 5 Maths Home-learning

                    Set: 18.10.17                             Due: 30.10.17

Only just this week, we have introduced a new program called Times Tables Rockstars. With this, the children are able to practice their times tables on a variety of different games to earn them points to change their rockstar avatar! I think we are just as excited as the children!

Over half-term, we would like you to have a go on Times Tables Rockstars (https://ttrockstars.com/home) and become more familiar with the different features. You can play the Garage setting (just on your own) or the Arena and Festival settings (against others)!

Your username and password have been stuck in your Maths home-learning books or Home School Contact books.
